SFYS Varsity
Many players drop out in middle and high school because, in most cities and towns, the only way to continue playing is on a highly competitive "travel" team. For older players who just want to play for fun, or competitively but locally - there were no options ... until now!
The SFYS Varsity League, which debuted in the Spring of 2021, is structured to reach those players who want to still play organized league soccer without the cost and commitment required to roster onto a highly competitive non-local travel team.
The league is for high school-age players only and will enable recreational and local competitive teams to stay together and keep playing within the City at older ages.

- Expanded roster: The games may be small-sided, but the rosters aren't! Up to 18 players can register per team to accommodate jobs, after school activities and other commitments that might otherwise impact one's ability to play on a travel team.
The Varsity League replaces our historical open pick up and is set up instead as:
- 8v8 format, for continued rosters from Rec, and eased roster stress on UH/Travel.
- Boys and Girls divisions.
- Scheduled League Play.
- Affordable Registration: $100 per player per season, which includes practice and game fields, schedule, referees. (Uniforms not included.)
This league is for High School age players. However, with agreement between teams, special exceptions have been made for rising 9th Graders to join the league.
- No guesting up from Rec or Upper House (too big an age gap)
- Teams can be mixed high school ages, or one grade of friends!
Spring 2024 Varsity Girls Collective Team
Attention: High School Girls Who Still Want to Play!
For this Spring 2024, to round out the Girls' Varsity flight - in coordination with USSF Grassroots-licensed Coaches Krysta Jenkins (SF.FC) and Shae Kober who will co-coach at no charge - SFYS is offering team play for just $30 per player!
- Open to any current female or female-identifying high school student not currently registered on another SF Youth Soccer Spring team.
- Spring 2024 Registration Cost: $30
- Cost includes practice fields, game fields, schedule, and referees. Uniforms not included.
